Lefkathia
Description
Between the port of Limnia and the beach of Limnos, 2 kms far from Volissos, is located one of the most favourite beaches of the island, the Lefkathia of northwestChios, 39 kms distance by the city of Chios. It's nameshake, according to one version, was given due to the white lilies that grow in abundancy at the surrounding area but most probably was given due to the fact it hosted the temple of Lefkothea.
It is essentially a closed bay, popping up amidst the hills of the area. At 1997 the well known sculptor Kiriakos Rokos, mesmerized my Lefkathia, smitted a figure on one of the rocks which is located at the east side of the bay, contrived additionally a relative fairy tale.
Since then, Lefkathia has evolved to an organised beach, ideal for one to enjoy the sun and games by the seaside. It's deep blue crystal waters are characteristic. The beach offers sunbeds and umbrellas, it even has a bar that covers all needs of it's visitors. In the surrounding area exist rooms to rent and taverns.
Access to Lefkathia can occur only by private means, since there is not scheduled a regular bus line.
