The Ioustinianis Museum is located in the centre of Chios town, within the Castle of Chios. The building of the museum is considered to be constructed between the 14th and the 15th century A.D. The Ioustinianis Museum was destroyed by the Turks and it was reconstructed from 1980 till 1986 with the funds of the archeological department. The museum includes collections of Byzantine frescoes, icons,byzantine and Genovese sculptures among other masterpieces such as the icon of Archangel Michael from the village ofOlympoi. You can find an exit lane that leads to the north tower of the castle while being in the north part of the museum.
